Okay so a quick pre ramble- To any of those reading this, thank you for sticking around and still reading this rambly blog! I have a feeling I like writing it more than others like reading it, BUT maybe that’s just as important. Also a side note- we have so far only raise £80, but it is STILL only like…not even a twelfth of the way through the year. If we raised £100 a month, we would raise £1,200 and that’s an awesome amount to raise for the charity Mind! BUT if you still want to donate, the link is in the Follow us page, go and check it out and share it if you fancy!
So anyway, back to the scary thing of today! So a little backstory, 22 years condensed into a sentence or so- around 22 years ago, my parents used a sperm donor to create moi. Then around six years ago, I got a letter saying that me and my sister had 11 half siblings that had the same dad as us. Then around four years ago, I signed up to the donor sibling registry and waited to hear that I had a match. Years passed and I forgot all about it, and then around six months ago I got a call saying there finally was one! I had by this point completely forgotten i’d even signed up for it, so it took a while to adjust to the idea of having a human (two humans, it turns out) that is related to me that exists out there without me knowing. After a phone counselling session, we were ready to rock- we got their details, and they got ours! Both full sets of siblings, so two for the price of one!
Turns out they’ve lived like twenty minutes away from me for the last year or so, which is madness! And once we had each others details, we texted and messaged so much just because we had SO much to catch up on! But as I said in a previous blog entry, I haaaaaate phone calls, so six months passed without me being able to pick up the phone. Thankfully, both were the same as me, so we were all equally awkward! But we finally did it, and it was aweeeeesome to actually talk to these people. I guess this is cheating a little, as today it was the second time we talked, but it definitely counts as a scary thing still. They both sound so northern, which is adorable, and we have things in common that we like getting excited about together! I can’t wait for many more phone calls to come. Oh, and here’s photos of us making the same face, I found the photos the day we met and it creeeped me out in the best way possible.
